As a reminder: Dyscalculia and Phonological awareness problems are difficult to improve only by Montessori methods because of its symptoms and causes.
In Montessori, children learn the numerical senses such as quantity, shape, and sequencing as an introduction to the main mathematics activities.
To learn about quantity, the practice of pouring water from a jug into a glass can be utilized. Children can learn that the amount of water has been transferred from the jug to the glass.
For shapes, you can use origami (a square paper) to fold, then show the child about the features of triangles or rectangles.
You can also roll up newspapers to make several balls of different sizes, and have them arranged in order from the largest to the smallest to teach sequencing.
